Dirt in Your Skirt Welcomes New Contributor Heather Gannoe

Dirt in Your Skirt Welcome Contributor Heather Gannoe

In June 2011, Dirt in Your Skirt started out as a personal training blog of founder Margaret Schlachter. It initially chronicled her daily training and racing leading up to the 2011 World’s Toughest Mudder. Overtime Dirt in Your Skirt grew and became a community for women to turn to for inspiration in sport and life. Throughout this process Dirt in Your Skirt has recognized we needed to grow beyond our founders personal journey.

In fall 2012, we opened applications for our first team of Dirt in Your Skirt Ambassadors. We received over fifty applications and narrowed it down to eight ambassadors for the upcoming year. Our eight ambassadors were hand picked by the Dirt in Your Skirt team. Each women brings a unique voice and background to the company and we are excited to watch their year.

In early 2013, we introduced online coaching services to clients all around the world. Offering the same fitness and training programs used for Chris Davis and those tailored to specific athletes needs. Recently, we announced the first ever weeklong women’s only training camp. The first of it’s kind dedicated to obstacle course racing enthusiasts for August 2013.At the same time we recently underwent a new website redesign, upgraded the online forum, included ambassadors, and revamped our merchandise offerings. All while staying true to our roots, with honest stories and reviews from Dirt in Your Skirt HQ.

At it’s heart Dirt in Your Skirt will always have stories from it’s founder Margaret Schlachter and tips from her experiences but also much more content from our ambassadors and their journeys. As the sport of obstacle course racing has continued to grow so has the depends to report on all the new events. In order for Dirt in Your Skirt to continue to grow with the sport we have added a contributor to our ranks.

We welcome Heather Gannoe as the first Dirt in Your Skirt Contributor. Heather will be updating us from the east coast on a variety of races throughout the year and adding to the growing content on Dirt in Your Skirt. Heather is already an accomplished blogger and social media maven. Her blog RunFasterMommy is a resource for mother runners around the globe. She was recently recognized as by Runners World as a Twitter account to follow in the running community. She will be reporting on a variety of races, including the Spartan Death Race, as well as keeping us all up to date with who are the new hot competitors coming up on the east coast. We are very excited to welcome her to our team and share her experiences with us.

    • Before, during, during, and after. Hours of work, lessons learned, and more hours of work. Restoration Bungalow continues with one more room nearly finished. The moment I saw the house I was inspired to restore it back to its original beauty, one room at a time. Tons of credit to Forest for all his hard work! Classic colors, furniture, and fixtures. Half the fun is the research and the rest is seeing the vision executed!! All that’s left is artwork and new bedding.

    • Quiet night in a quiet town living a quiet life.
    • Making a house... a home. Everyday I’m filled with gratitude.

    • Seriously pinching myself while settling into my new home. Being able to walk out my backdoor into a canyon full of deer and jack rabbits, the dogs being able to run free the whole time, and quiet country life waiting when I get home. It’s hard to believe this is life.
2019 is off to a pretty good start! First day of work at my new job is Monday and spending these last couple days working away on the house and taking the dogs into the mountains behind our house.

    • This year I got the ultimate gift, on Friday I was handed the keys 🔑 to my new house.
We spent the weekend starting to bring her back to her original 1920’s charm. Christmas we woke up in the house, drank coffee, opened presents, and took a hike out the back door up into the canyon behind the house. I already love being back in a tiny town you’ve never heard of. People have stopped by, given us cookies, fudge, and chocolates. Heard stories of previous families who lived in the house and a few nuggets of the property history.
Beyond excited for the next chapter of life. It’s been a crazy last month and a half. A dream job came to me, bought a house, and now in the process of moving and bringing this little beauty back to life.
The lesson learned in the last couple months is - trust life has a plan for you - things happen for a reason - and life is full of good people.
