Since her first race in 2010 at the inception of Spartan. She has consistently been on the front lines of an emerging industry as the first female professional obstacle racing athlete and first female editor-in-chief for an industry publication.
She founded Dirt in Your Skirt which became one of the most trusted industry resources launching her journalism career. She has worked with major obstacles race industry brands such as Spartan, Mud Run Guide, Mud and Obstacle Magazine, Savage Race, Obstacle Course Racing World Championships, and North American Obstacle Racing Championships to name a few.
Outside of the industry, her expertise has been sought after from major brands such as Outside, Self, Shape, Trail Runner Magazine, Men’s Health, Men’s Fitness, NBC, The Associated Press, Gear Junkie, Comcast, Red Bull, Racked.com, Dailyburn.com, About.com, Gaspari Nutrition, Huffington Post, irunfar.com, Inov-8 and other international media.
As an athlete has taken on some of the world’s toughest events including the Death Race, World’s Toughest Mudder (5x), and Survival Run Nicaragua. Her passion for life is infectious and her story has been featured in several books as well as her own published by Tuttle.
Margaret was one of the first people in the world to turn her passion for obstacle racing into her profession and continues to work in the industry nearly a decade after beginning as a weekend warrior. To date, Margaret has written over 2,000 articles on and about the sport of obstacle racing and fitness.
She has taken Dirt in Your Skirt beyond obstacle racing with the introduction of her podcast – Dirt in Your Skirt – in 2012. To date, she has interviewed CEOs, best-selling authors, industry experts, professional athletes, nutritionists, thought leaders, and more both with her work in the obstacle racing industry and her podcast called Dirt in Your Skirt.
Aside from podcasting and reporting, Margaret serves as a Board Member for For Those Who Would, a non-profit that helps raise money for equipment and cover medical costs for those who are in need.
Today she spends her time as a full-time podcaster, journalist, author, industry expert, and coach. When not podcasting she can be found rock climbing, skiing, or hanging with her two border collies.

Margaret is editor-in-chief for MudRunGuide.com the world’s leading news source for all things Obstacle Racing. She also works as a freelance writer for a number of websites and publications.
Her first book, Obstacle Race Training with Tuttle Publishing was released April 15, 2014. Scheduled for re-release September 18, 2018.
