A New Twist on Coffee…

Posted on March 11, 2014 by Margaret Schlachter

For years I prided myself on NOT drinking coffee, then I started to train again and mornings got earlier and nights got later. An early morning cup of coffee now sets the mood for the day whether it be a daybreak run or marathon day of writing articles. Recently, I came across this article from Cheerfully Imperfect on my Facebook feed Bulletproof coffee gummies and immediately couldn’t wait to get home to look into them.  First thing I needed to do was figure out what “Bulletproof coffee” was. A little searching led me to the Bulletproof Exec site and his article on Bulletproof coffee.

I took a look at a few recipes and variations of this coffee and decided on a blend of several different recipes. My version of “bulletproof coffee” or as I call my High Octane Coffee…

IMG_7009High Octane Coffee

  • 1 1/2 cup of brewed hot coffee
  • 1 1/2 tbsp of coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon of unsalted grassfed butter
  • 1 1/2 tbsp of coconut cream (put a can of coconut milk in the freezer and skim off the top)
  • 1/4 – 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1-2 drops of stevia (optional)

Mix all the ingredients in a blender until completely mixed. It will be frothy like a latte. For a vegan option skip the butter and it’s still really yummy!

Benefits: Basically this mixture of coffee and good fats helps kick start your day and for many helps in fat burning. For more information about the benefits check out – How to Make Bulletproof Coffee in 5 Simple Steps, Is Adding Butter Actually Good For You?
