Second Annual Reach the Peak 5K Returns to Killington

Posted on July 25, 2016 by Margaret Schlachter

PEAK 2015 START

Killington has long been known as the Beast of the East, well before Spartan Race stepped foot on the mountain. As one of the highest peaks in Vermont for years, it has been a hikers delight and also a stop on the Long Trail and AT. Last year Killington Boot Camp owner Beth Roberts came up with the idea of a race up the mountain, this year that race is back. On August 20, 2016 at 10:00am racers will toe the line as they race to the top of Killington.

PEAK 2015

For those prepping for a Spartan Race in the fall, this is an excellent opportunity to give running up Killington ago sans obstacles and offers a gondola ride down after a grueling uphill climb. The one way 5K starts from Snowshed to Peak Lodge. The final stretch is on Stairs aka “the stairway to heaven” at the top of the Glades. At the finish line, DJ Dave will be playing music which can be heard on much of the course.

PEAK 2015 MARK JONES

Obstacle racer and endurance athlete Mark Jones will return to the race again this year and try to defend his title.
