All About the Magic of Matcha!

Posted on March 22, 2018 by Margaret Schlachter

Did you know that in Japanese “cha” means green tea, and “ma” means powder, thus matcha translates literally as “powdered green tea”? Pretty simple and cool. So I have been trying to keep my coffee consumption to one glass in the morning but sometimes I need a little pick me up for the afternoon. Enter in Matcha as a replacement.

But what is Matcha?

So if you haven’t been scrolling the hipster Instagram feeds or you aren’t Japanese you might not have heard of Matcha yet. But you have probably heard of Green Tea. Well, Match is powdered green tea, making it super easy to drink and the perfect midday pick me up.

Why drink it in the afternoon? While matcha contains caffeine, it also contains L-theanine, a relaxing amino acid, resulting in a feeling of balanced energy for your whole body. There aren’t many drinks out there that can make you feel energetic, calm, and focused all at the same time but Matcha is pretty much, everyday magic.

How did it get popular?

Preparation and consumption of matcha entered mainstream culture through the Zen Buddhists, who were very aware of its meditational benefits, which brought them a greater sense of clarity and well-being and we’re here to bring that to you.

Mushrooms and Matcha…

If you have listened to at least one podcast episode you have heard me talk about Four Sigmatic. A few years ago I started to learn about the medicinal properties of tons of different mushrooms. However, most taste like crap on their own and was soon introduced to Four Sigmatic (under their old name Four Sigma) for their mushroom coffee.

Working online all day often taxes me mentally and was looking for anything to boost my mental skills during the workday. That’s when I found the Lion’s Mane Mushroom Coffee and couple that with an Onnit Alpha Brain and I am off and running and working the day away. Then I found the warrior blend and frequently mix that into our coffee we make on our pour over. But enough with coffee… Matcha has become an afternoon goto for me when I need that same pick me up but want to ditch the coffee.

What’s unique about Four Sigmatic’s Mushroom Matcha?

  • It has 1 gram of dual extracted Lion’s Mane per serving
  • It’s organic, ceremonial grade matcha
  • There’s 250mg of organic ginger per serving
  • You can make it hot, cold or even mix it in your ice cream!

In addition to the brain health, memory, and creative benefits associated with both matcha and our Lion’s Mane, we’ve included the powerful adaptogen astragalus to protect your body from stress, and a hint of ginger to improve digestion and flavor.

Matcha tea’s vibrant green color comes from chlorophyll, nature’s best detoxifier that helps to cleanse our bodies at molecular levels by increasing our blood’s ability to deliver oxygen and other nutrients to our cells. I’ll definitely drink to that!
