Episode 15 – Bobbi Nicol – Transgender Barefoot Ultra Runner
This week on the podcast Bobbi Nicol joins us to talk about ultra running, her life as a transgender female athlete. Nicol is a 45-year-old with two children and lives in Manitoba, Canada. She is a barefoot runner and advocate for transgender rights. During the week she is an engineering services coordinator and holds a spot on the board of Manitoba Runners Association.
On this episode, she talks about growing up in rural Canada and how in her forties she decided to transition from Bob to Bobbi and express who she truly always was on the inside. She delves into the hormones and blockers she has been on for the last year and a half as she has transitioned, how her running has changed, as well as what it is like to go through puberty in a matter of months.
This is an extremely candid look into one woman’s journey and we are proud that she joined us on the podcast this week.
