Obstacle & Adventure Weekly

OB-ADV-WEEKLY

I grew up behind the scenes watching my mother work in public relations for over 20 years. She told me of stories working and helping run the pressroom for the 1980 Olympic Games in Lake Placid, NY. I have always been interested in sports, and that reach dream in the back of my brain has always been as a commentator for a sport. Growing up in alpine ski racing I am fortunate enough to know many of the people who report and call the world cup races.

I love being an athlete. I always have and always will. But I have always been even more interested in what makes the sport tick, what’s happening behind the scenes. Who are the people, what are their motivations and how did they get into the sport. When I use to go to concerts I was just as interested in the stories of the people moving equipment as I was the band itself. It’s always been the people, the behind the scenes action that has sparked my interest.

Brett Stewart and I have been wanting to do a project together for a little while. When we discussed a show about Obstacle Racing and the outdoor lifestyle in general I jumped on the idea. Below is the official press release and tomorrow we hit the road to start filming for the first couple of episodes. I am excited to be the host of Obstacle & Adventure Weekly. My goal is to bring you the stories beyond the finish line, bring you the lifestyle of OCR, no story too big or too small.

I am exited to add this endeavor to the other projects I am currently working on and bring you a new type of show for all of us in the OCR world!

Phoenix, AZ, July 3, 2014 – Obstacle Course Races & Mud Runs the world over are continuing to see exponential growth in athlete participation as the sport of OCR has rapidly grown from fringe sport into household name in just a handful years. Since 2010, events such as Spartan Race, Tough Mudder, and Warrior Dash have taken the United States, and now the world, by storm with these fun, challenging, and unconventional races.

Surging in popularity from a few thousand participants to an estimated 4 million registered racers in 2014 alone, the sport of OCR has been under-addressed when it comes to news and information. Stewart Media Ventures, the creators of OCR WARRIOR, are aiming to fill that void with the first-ever weekly news-format show dedicated to adventure athletes of every type; Obstacle Course Racers, Adventure Racers, Ultramarathoners, Trail Runners, Outdoor Enthusiasts, and anyone who has a passion for activity out in the wild. This new show is called Obstacle and Adventure Weekly.

“We’re extremely pleased to announce Margaret as host of Obstacle and Adventure Weekly, a brand-new weekly news program dedicated to adventure athletes of every type. The founder of Dirt In Your Skirt, writer for Mud & Obstacle Magazine, and author of Obstacle Race Training, Margaret is one of the most influential athletes in the sport of OCR. We at Stewart Media Ventures are thrilled that she’s bringing her own brand of awesome to this “adventurous” new project.” – Brett Stewart

The scope and breadth of this show are as varied as the type of events and athletes Obstacle and Adventure Weekly will be covering, encompassing gear testing & reviews, reports from race venues, commentary from some of the interesting characters in outdoor adventure, behind-the-scenes at events, and much more.

Obstacle and Adventure Weekly is currently in development for an August launch, and will be distributed online through a series of partner websites; mudrunguide.com, dirtinyourskirt.com, and ocr.tv.
