Hardcore Mudd Run

Posted on August 2, 2012 by Margaret Schlachter

After spending much of the summer racing, I recently added yet another event to the calendar. This one is not and obstacle race but a mud run. What’s the difference? Well at least in my mind a obstacle race is chip timed, and prizes are given out at the end of the race to top finishers overall and/or by age group. A mud run on the other hand has the obstacles but the course is about finishing and teamwork.

This was what brought me to Hardcore Mudd Run. I love trying out new race series and when the crew over at Hardcore reached out to me I was intrigued. I am looking forward to being able to go through a course for fun. The organizers promote the event as “This is a 5-10 mile mud run with up to 25 obstacles, making all other Mud Runs look like a kids play ground. This is an extremely challenging obstacle course that pushes a person to his or her physical and mental limits. In this obstacle course, participants will have to use camaraderie and communication to overcome all obstacles.”  What doesn’t sound good about that?

The event is taking place at Tussey Mountain in PA on September 8th and 9th. I will be heading there for the event on the 9th. Looking forward to giving Hardcore Mudd Run a try!
