Anton Krupicka

It’s amazing how YouTube can make someone go from a complete anonymous soul into someone of note. Anton Krupicka is one such person his racing resume in the ultra running world should make him a household name and yet it was the Dean’s and Scott’s that I first heard of when I thought about running long distances. Books like Born to Run make some of these men and women seem like household names. However, it is through YouTube that I got to know who Anton “Tony” Krupicka into my virtual life, since we have never met or been at a race together.

The man has won Leadville 100 twice, Miwok 100K, the Rocky Racoon 100 miler, the Collegiate Peaks 50 Miler, the White River 50 Miler twice (Set 2010 CR 6:25:29), the High Mountain 50k and the Estes Park Marathon. He also came in second in the Western States Endurance Run in 2010 in what would have been a course record time of 15:13:53. However, it is not his results that led me to him, it was his vibe that pulled me into becoming a Anton Krupicka fan.

He has a completely laid back attitude and is a minimalist in all aspects of the sport. His long hair and beard call to a sense of freedom found on the trail. Now as I said before he is not someone I actually know but someone worth getting to know in the ultra running world. He lives and trains in the mountains of Colorado running around thirty miles a day. He embodies the Colorado laid-back mantra many of my friends who live out west possess. He would definitely be a person I would love to sit down and have a cup of coffee with and just talk about running and life. So Tony if you read this would love to do an interview, hint hint. But see for yourself in a couple of his YouTube videos and you too will most likely become a Anton Krupicka fan:
