Day 26… Rest and Relax

Posted on July 1, 2011 by Margaret Schlachter

It’s Friday! Which not only means the start of the weekend and a long weekend for many but it is also my day off. This week has been a challenge not so much physically but mentally. It was hard to sit in class all day then come home squeeze in a workout then put my head back in the books and study for another couple of hours. At times it felt like my own personal Death Race, I averaged 4 – 5 hours of sleep a night, on a couch, for the past couple of days and have pushed my mind to the max in terms of information acquisition. After I hand in my last piece of work today I will look forward to getting home and sleeping tonight! I do miss home and my own bed!

Last night the Death Race 2011 was featured on Nightline on ABC. To give you just an idea what people went through this year and what I have signed up for next year. Here is a great account of the race by one finisher. He did a good job describing it all.

Below is a letter from one of the Death Race founders, Andy Weinberg. Next year the theme is Betrayal. Wonder what it will bring about for us!

“Congrats to everyone who showed up to participate in the 2011 Death Race. It’s one of my favorite weekends of the year. I enjoy spending time with inspiring people and you all fit that mold. Special Congrats to the 35 athletes who were able to finish, 45 hours into the race.   Well done”!  —  Andy Weinberg
