Day 35… HOME

Back Home on the Trails

I feel like my life has been in a constant state of movement for the last couple of weeks. Between Grad School, 4th of July, being sick, spending the weekend with the family, I feel like it has been really hard to stay motivated and on schedule with my training.

I had been putting off today’s run all day. In fact when I got home from the Adirondacks I cleaned my bathroom to prolong going for the run. It has been really hard to get motivated. I was very sore this morning from yesterday’s run. But I pulled myself together got dressed and got out on the mountain.

It took about two miles to get into the run. Once I hit mile three and four I remembered why I liked running again. The run itself was fairly uneventful. I saw someone and nothing, it was just myself and the trail. In truth it was exactly what I needed after weeks of over stimulation all around me.

The second half of the run went very quickly. It was all downhill. I am finding I am running faster and faster on the trails and am able to get my footing right each step. After today’s run I have a renewed vigour to attack my training going into next week. I plan to focus this next week on getting more sleep and getting my food intake back on track.
