Day 52… Give a Girl a Camera

Posted on July 29, 2011 by Margaret Schlachter

The weather today in Vermont was absolutely amazing. It was a day that inspires you to get out and do something. That something for me was run on the mountain. I ran back up to the top of Bear Mountain from Snowshed on Killington again. This time my GPS said a much different mileage, but I’ll go with it, one is wrong. I am really hoping I am getting the Garmin GPS I asked my parents for when my birthday comes up in a little over a week. 310XT, Mom, if you didn’t get my email.

GPS Got a Little Crazy Today

I digress, back to today. It was my second day in my new Inov8 X-Talon 190’s and I have to say, well I REALLY like them. I ran a lot faster in the woods today, not sure if it was the weather, the shoe, or what, but I was able to keep a fairly fast pace this afternoon, for me at least. Apparently, according to the Nike+ App that was my fastest 10k, too bad I don’t use it on race days to really clock my fastest runs. But for training it’s great to know I am getting faster, definitely felt like I was able to push more.

TRAIL RUN
Killington, VT
Distance: 6.40 Miles
Total Time: 1:09’35”
Pace: 10’57″/mi
Elevation Gain: 1,442ft
Elevation Loss: 1,298ft

Ok, so today’s run had a second objective, a little bit of a recon mission for the upcoming Spartan Beast. Ever since my teammates found out there will be lifeguards at the event, the question has been about the ponds and water that are at Killington. So I took my iPhone which happens to have video on it with me during today’s run. Here is a little piece of my backyard playground, for all my Spartan Chicked teammates. A note I do not know for sure what the course will be race day this is my best guess. Sorry no good pictures just this video.
