Day 7… Slow Going

Posted on June 12, 2011 by Margaret Schlachter

After a night in Saratoga with high school friends, this mornings run was a little slow. I knew if I was going to get my run in today it had to be early, with a bridal shower and Disc Golf League night back in Vermont, it’s going to be a busy day. So I pulled on my Vibram Five Fingers, grabbed my backpack filled it with about 10lbs of weight then headed off to the trails. It was also my first back-to-back run. It was slow going on the trails this morning behind Skidmore College. My legs felt like lead after yesterdays run and it took me over two miles to settle into the run. It was slow going up the hills and some I was forced to change over into a fast hike.

Trail Run – Northwoods, Skidmore College
Distance: 6 Miles
Time: 1:26:37

Weekly Total Trail Mileage: 20 Miles

Week One Over, it was a good first week. After years of being a non-runner, actually going so far as to say how stupid I thought it was. I am finally getting into it. It’s thanks to my friend Jen who last year introduced me to trail running. Definitely, the trail is my preferred place to run. At the moment I am setting my sights on what needs to get done for the Spartan Beast while at the same time building up to the World’s Toughest Mudder.

Thanks to all that have read the blog so far. The support has been amazing. Hope you continue to enjoy the blog.
