Day 83… Getting Chicked By Irene

Posted on August 28, 2011 by Margaret Schlachter

As I think everyone in the America knows, Hurricane Irene is pounding down on the East Coast at the moment. She totally chicked me today and sidelined any workouts due to the danger of falling limbs from the high winds, not to mention it is pouring  rain at an alarming rate. Anything over 5 seconds outside you take on the image of a drowned rat. Instead of complaining about all the things I can’t do today because of Irene, I am finding the merit in giving my body a rest after yesterday’s run and drive to NH late last night.

I am away from home again this week, as I am doing a recert of the Wilderness portion of my EMT at SOLO Wilderness Medicine School in Conway, NH. It’s been two years since I was last year, a short period of time but ages ago in my life experience. Although when I pulled up the familiar dirt road I was instantly as ease coming back to this place. Thanks to Wickedmuddy.com for this gem of a video today describing how to survive Hurricane Irene! In all seriousness be safe to all those experiencing the wrath of one serious chick known as Irene.

FINALLY:

As Irene chicks us its with great pride as one of the founding members and “Team Manager” of the Spartan Chicked team to announce that our founder and Radbassador, Carrie Adams has put together a Spartan Chicked Blog. It is the home base for all our team happenings. Who knows you might see some Dirt In Your Skirts Contributions in the future on the site!
