Day 92…Back to Normal

Posted on September 8, 2011 by Margaret Schlachter

Labor Day Weekend is over, our offices are open for business as usual. With all the talk about Irene it was nice to get back into the normal swing of things. Along the day a friend called and asked what I was doing, well honestly checking emails, drinking tea, sitting in my office waiting until the end of the day to go for a run.

When the work day ended I was eager to get out and run. It was the first time I had been out running in the last six days. It was nothing special but just a run and that was exactly what I needed. Normal. I was nervous running at first as my body ached like an old door hinge which needed to be oiled. It took about two miles for my body to ease into it. As I progressed I realized, my legs feel really light! The self mandated time off wasn’t so bad, it didn’t hurt me. In fact I actually ran faster. finishing out the 6.5 mile run at a nine minute pace. It was exactly what I needed to start to get back on track. Sometimes normal and seemingly boring can be just what you need to calm yourself after an exceptionally stressful last week.
