Tüb People – Gear Review

Posted on March 21, 2014 by Margaret Schlachter

In the last few weeks and extensive amount of travel I have been able to truly field test a few products that were recently sent to me to test out. Tüb People is a New York City transplant business now located here in Utah. I had a chance to meet with the owner and was fascinated by the upstream company, which takes used and discarded tire tubes and repurposes them into rad wallets, and bags. I have had the chance to try out their two wallets, as well as their computer bag.

City Bag

The City Bag holds a 13″ laptop in a padded sleeve, has two zippered pockets, two large slip-in pockets, and a carabineer for easy access to your keys. A padded adjustable shoulder strap lets you carry your load comfortably.

No two City Bags are exactly alike. Each is an original!”

In the Field:

This has become my goto travel bag for my computer and even through I have a 15″ laptop I can still fit it in the bag. It has currently traveled across the US and all over Mexico. The nice part about this bag is it’s ease to look good while bring drug through harsh conditions. It’s super easy to wipe off mud, dust or whatever else gets picked up at the airport or in transport. Although not fully waterproof it does a good job repelling water. The pockets on the inside are great and it’s been a perfect, stylish companion on my travels. It fits all my work and my computer all in one place.

Simple Wallet

From the Website:

1382069957_3“The Simple Wallet is streamlined for everyday use. Alternatively, it could be used for a night out, or dedicated to business cards.

Fits up to 10 credit cards and the bill strap is snug to hold all of your cash.

No two Simple Wallets are exactly alike. Each is an original!”

In the Field:

1382069956_2This sleek wallet is perfect for travel. It holds a few bills and cards. For my recent trip to Mexico I was in a town that doesn’t take credit cards and didn’t need to carry around much so I opted just to carry this around with some cash in it. It was nice to be able to carry something light, the only downside to an open wallet being in a country have uses a lot of coins I had coins in my pocket floating around. But as a running wallet it’s the perfect companion.

Castanza Wallet

From the Website:

1382069822_1“The Castanza Wallet is smooth and sleek. It slides in/out of your pocket easily. With 6 card pockets and a wide pocket for cash you’ll have everything you need on hand.

No two Castanza Wallets are exactly alike. Each is an original!”

In the Field:

This is definitely a most masculine wallet out of all the products that I tested. It was the perfect wallet for my boyfriend and he really was attached to the design. Especially as a former bike racer. For me as a female it was more than I wanted to carry and I really gravitated to the slimmer wallet. It is constructed well and fits a far amount of cards and cash without being too bulky. Again it’s great for the all weather adventurer who might find themselves in any element.
