News from Extreme Nation

Posted on April 8, 2013 by Margaret Schlachter

Extreme Nation seems to be in the Obstacle Course Racing news a lot recently. First we found that Traci Martin, Director of Operations left the company. Speculations have run high since her departure about the future of the company. Then this morning another member of the team left the company, followed up by a blog post on Obstacle Racing Magazine USA about a death of the owners son and tragedy in his family. Then tonight this email was received…

Margaret,

The Extreme Nation event planned for June 14-16, 2013 at the Monroe County Fairground in southern Michigan has been postponed.  The rescheduled date has not been finalized but will be in late summer. Please visit our website for updated information.

We regret the postponement of the event but are doing so for two reasons.

1. The previous event director strayed from the original vision for Extreme Nation and its focus, venue and business plan.
2. The event founder experienced a death in the family. Because of this family tragedy he could not devote his personal attention to the event.

We are excited by the future of Extreme Nation and look forward to having you engaged in our future events.  If you are planning to travel to southern Michigan we regret any inconvenience. We are offering an event registration refund to all participants. Please send your request for registration refund to [email protected] and include your name, street mailing address with zip code and we will mail refund checks within 30-days. We will also have free admission for you at our race to come in the late summer/early fall. Your t-shirt will also be sent to you as well.  We hope you understand.

Any questions, please do not hesitate to email me. We are sorry for this inconvenience.

Extreme Nation

It looks like there might be an Extreme Nation race in the future but it will be a lot different than the current direction. This is a blow to the development of the sport of obstacle course racing. Only time will tell if Extreme Nation will in fact ever become a race.
